Courage
Faith
What
is courage? The Webster dictionary defines courage as “mental or moral strength
to venture, persevere, and withstand danger, fear, or difficulty”. In the book of Joshua chapter 1 we see, that
it was courage that lead Joshua to follow God’s instruction. It is told that
after death of Moses, Joshua was found crying, and the Lord instructed him to
be courageous. God told him to get ready to cross His people over the Jordan
River. How many times the Lord gives us instruction to complete a task and we
feel afraid and sometimes “chicken out”. We wished we didn’t have to complete
the task. And sometimes feels that someone else can and should, do it. But we
must remember that the Lord does not give us a task unless, he thinks we can
handle it. Like Joshua, we need to stop crying, get ready to cross and strength
ourselves in the Lord. We need to make room to enter into the land flow with
milk and honey. Not just enter but enjoy the blessings, and bless others as
well.
Our
jobs are not to look at the obstacles, which are looking at us, but to make our
face like flints and stay focus on our blessings. We need to be strong and
courage, because the Lord God is with us, he never leaves or forsakes us. The
word of God says “6 be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to
inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them. Be strong and very
courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not
turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever
you go. 8 Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and
night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will
be prosperous and successful. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and
courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will
be with you wherever you go.”(Joshua 1”6-9).
Therefore,
encourage yourself and don’t be afraid. Know that God is with you. My
interpretation is that God wants us to cross. Some of us need to cross by our
self, trusting in God and once we are there, we would be able to bless others,
including our family members. We are the one who God is using to enter in the
land following with milk and honey. When our family and those around us see
what the Lord has done, they will follow. Be courageous and stay strong, trust
in the Lord and know that you will prosper, in Jesus name. Amen. Where is your courage? Be blessed.
